Violin Maestro: One of the most respected and magnetic musicians in the world, Russian violinist and conductor Dmitry Sitkovestky is known for his flawless violin art, which captures masterfully the composer’s musical creations in his many string works. He has collaborated with fellow music giants including Colin Davis, Mariss Jansons, Neville Marriner, and Yehudi Menuhin, and often performs with the world’s leading orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland, LA Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus, New York Philharmonic and Philadelphia orchestras.
He will be playing two much-anticipated performances in Hong Kong. On August 21, he collaborates with Hong Kong Sinfonietta for the first time to perform Tchaikovsky’s monumental and captivating Violin Concerto under the baton of Daniel Raiskin. The concert will also feature the composer’s well-loved Symphony No 5, as well as the Asian première of Pēteris Vasks’ “Musica Serena”. On August 28, he will join local star pianist Colleen Lee in recital at the Grand Theatre of West Kowloon Cultural District’s Xiqu Centre, performing a selection of stunning chamber works by Beethoven, Prokofiev and Mendelssohn.
