East Meets West: Dive into one couple’s journey to Kathmandu and their inspiring encounter with the first consciously reincarnated lama of Tibet in “Hannah: Buddhism’s Untold Journey” — as the award-winning documentary makes its Hong Kong premiere next month.

“Hannah” follows Copenhagener Hannah and her husband Ole as they travel to Kathmandu, where in 1968 the two became the first western students of His Holiness the 16th Karmapa. The lama of Tibet was set to forever change the lives of the couple.

The film depicts Hannah and Ole’s determination to bring Buddhism to the West while continent-hopping and enduring extreme challenges — including getting kidnapped by guerrillas in South America. To date, the film has won the “Audience Best Documentary” award at the ARPA film festival in Los Angeles and has recently been selected for the Vancouver International Film Festival.

When? February 2, 2017.

Where? 43C Stubbs Road, Mid-Levels.

How much? $100 per ticket.

How to book? Tickets at the door, or through Eventbrite.
