Survivors’ Stories: Grassroots Future, a charity in Hong Kong that focuses on community building through refugee-led initiatives that began during Covid-19 and overcame numerous challenges, will mark its first anniversary with a fun birthday party on September 30!

There are 13,000 refugees and asylum seekers seeking protection in Hong Kong – most of them are from countries in Africa, Middle East and South Asia. Many have to wait for over 10 years to be granted an “official” refugee status, during which they have no legal work permit and are only provided with a subsidy that barely covers basic necessities. Grassroots Future’s mission is to create programs around three key areas for the refugee community: education, community outreach, and well-being.

Join the birthday party to learn more about the refugee crisis, and enjoy a fun-filled evening of food, music, and a game of trivia — organized solely by the diverse refugee community in Hong Kong!

Where? Culture Club Gallery, 15 Elgin Street, Central

When? 5:30pm – 8:30pm, 30 September, 2021

How much? HK$150 online, and HK$200 at the door

How to participate? Get your tickets now on eventbrite
