Renaissance Masterpieces: The Hong Kong Museum of Art partners with the Uffizi Gallery of Florence in this rare exhibition showcasing 42 paintings by Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli and his contemporaries. The Uffizi Gallery is a prominent museum in Italy that houses highly prized masterworks from Renaissance artists including The Birth of Venus by Botticelli and works by Michelangelo and Raphael. The first collaboration between the Hong Kong Museum of Art and a major gallery in Florence, “Botticelli and His Times——Masterworks from the Uffizi” examines the way artists during the Renaissance movement broke new grounds in their embrace of humanist ideas and the pursuit of truth.
