Tale of the Heart: Based on the 1964 Japanese novel of the same name, “Beauty and Sadness” is a new chamber opera that explores the human condition through the tumultuous relationships between a novelist, a painter and her student, and an abstract artist. This is the production’s world premiere. Performed in English with Chinese surtitles.
