Co-president, Queer Straight Alliance
As co-president of the Queer Straight Alliance, Ryan Lee represents the LGBTI student organization at public events, including panel discussions and roundtables. He first joined the organization in 2012 as an undergrad at PolyU, while looking for ways to contribute to the advocacy of LGBTI rights on campus. He is currently in his final-year in a CUHK Juris Doctor Program.
His efforts have paid off. “We have built an extensive network of members across five universities,” he says.
Each year, Lee and the QSA organizes the Inclusion Recruitment Conference, which brings Hong Kong college students and prospective employers together to discuss diversity in recruitment and in the workplace. They also partner with Fruits in Suits, a monthly professional networking event, on a mentorship program. “We aim to increase the visibility of LGBTI individuals both on campus and in the workplace, and drive the inclusiveness agenda through engaging straight allies and like-minded communities.”
His very first job? Customer Management Executive at the British Council in Hong Kong.
