After its momentous launch a few months ago, we’re happy to report that the Hong Kong High Speed Rail is actually a pleasant new way to cross the mainland border! The rail links Hong Kong directly to major cities throughout Mainland China including Shenzhen, Wuhan, Shanghai and Beijing at record speed.
The best bit? Passengers on the Express Rail Link can now go from Hong Kong to Shenzhen in under 15 minutes. (We tried, and it was more like 12 minutes…) But be sure to arrive early for the customs and immigration check that happens on the Hong Kong side, before you cross the border.
The Hong Kong stop is at West Kowloon Station terminus, which is and connected to and walkable from Kowloon MTR Station.
