Hong Kong has a long history as a maritime port, but have you ever been curious about the specifics? The Hong Kong Maritime Museum has all the answers. Established in 2005 — and relocated to Central Ferry Pier in 2013 — the educational non-profit not only charts Hong Kong’s development as an important international port, it also covers the history of everything maritime through the South China Sea and the neighboring areas, from ship development to sea exploration. Artifacts you can expect to see range from paintings to even a 19th century cannon. The museum runs special exhibitions and educational events, too. Chill out at the cafe or pop into the gift shop at the end of your visit.
