Tucked away in Sheung Shui Wai is the Liu Man Shek Tong Ancestral Hall, a traditional ancestral hall that was constructed in 1751 by the Liu clan, who migrated from Fujian during the Yuan Dynasty. Founded in celebration of their prosperity, the three-hall, two-courtyard building is where today’s clan members worship their ancestors, observe traditions such as their annual Spring Rite, and hold discussions and meetings on issues that affect village life.
Rich with auspicious murals and designs, the hall underwent restorations in the 1980s and 90s, and served as a school between the 1930s and 70s.
