Just when we thought we’d done every staycation in Hong Kong, we were corrected. Although we love an indulgent foodie theme and a stylish stay at The Langham, plus some outdoor time camping, it’s also fun to find some of the lesser-known steals. Here are some of the coolest unique staycations in Hong Kong that you have probably not tried yet.

Glamping – at WM Hotel in Sai Kung

WM Hotel opened in Sai Kung last year, offering a nature escape in its pretty waterfront location. We’ve done some glamping and also endless staycations, but how about glamping at a hotel? It’s a first for us too, but it’s certainly unique. This package includes accommodation in the sea view room with access to the private rooftop, where your glamping gear awaits. It’s up to you where you decide to snooze – we’ll be out for the sunset and sunrise for sure though.

Price: from HK$1,760 per night.

Offer valid until June 30th 2022.

You’ve probably come across Saiyuen Adventure Park at some point but it wouldn’t be a complete list of unique staycations without this eccentric gem. Accommodation ranges from a Mongolian Ger to African Safari Tents while activities cover everything from bubble soccer to tree-top climbing. If travel’s off the cards for any longer, this is definitely the next best alternative.

This one-stop wellbeing haven is isolated away in the hills. Although the retreats are temporarily postponed due to COVID restrictions at the date of publishing, we strongly recommend booking in quickly once it’s back on, since places fill up quickly.

Price: from HK$3,350 per retreat.

Dream on: a membership stay at HKGTA

Okay, so this one is more of a dream destination – since you’ll need a cool HK$2 million to register for the membership first. Surrounded by Sai Kung nature, Hong Kong’s exclusive tennis and golf academy offers access to five-star sports facilities, a spa, numerous swimming pools and yes, accommodation too. If you are lucky enough to be a member, then this is a not-so-casual option to get away from the city for a while.
