It’s here! The World’s 50 Best Restaurants announced Asia’s 50 Best Bars last month, with quite a number of local bars making it to the list. Covering drinking spots from 16 countries on the continent with 14 new entries this year, this ranking is all you need to plan your weekends in the city and possible travelling plans across Asia in the near future. 1. Coa, Hong Kong

Opened in 2017 by Jay Khan, Coa serves cocktails inspired by flavors found in Mexico. Start with the Coa signatures La Paloma de Oaxaca, mixed with Tequila blanco, Mezcal joven, lime, grapefruit soda and worm salt, if you are overwhelmed by the 41-page agave menu. The industrial-styled bar deserves another visit for the new cocktails inspired by seasonal ingredients added to the list every week.

Quinary, launched in 2012 by Diageo World Class 2015 Hong Kong & Macau Champion Antonio Lai, is a hyper-modern bar that pays tribute to the city with cocktails on its latest menu taking inspiration from the city’s food markets and further afield. The long bar extends to the founder’s lab, showcasing the rotary evaporator and equipment which redistill and slow-cook the bar’s flavored spirits, and the caviar box for the signature Earl Grey Caviar Martini.

34. The Wise King, Hong Kong

Named after Alfonso X of Castile, a Spanish monarch who allegedly contributed to the creation of tapas, The Wise King brings the city back to the 13th century, the golden age of tapas and drinking culture. The award-winning team serves cocktails that pay tribute to the heritage and those celebrating modern drinking customs.

One of the year’s new entries, The Aubrey in Mandarin Oriental is a Japanese izakaya that overlooks the night view of the Pearl of the East. The bar offers an “Omakase Cocktail Experience” in which guests travel through the Japanese world of spirits infused with passion and craftsmanship.
