Following the surprise Brexit vote result in the UK last week, we polled our British readers on Facebook to see what their thoughts are on the issue. Here’s what some of them said. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments!

“Bemused. Confused. Sad. Happy. Worried. All of the above. Is this the start of the break up of the UK – will Scotland and Northern Island now want to leave the UK to stay in the EU? I have seen an online petition for London to remain in the EU. What????? Are we now going to have every British voting region wanting to be independent? Are the French and Dutch going to follow the UK with their own referendums? I am proud that democracy has won again, and I’m sure that the British people will pull together to make Brexit work but I am concerned as to what this means for the younger generation. On the plus side, at least now the British can enjoy funny shaped fruit and vegetables without flouting EU law.” – Giles Wilson

“Devastated. Utterly despondent for my children’s futures. Ashamed that the rest of the world will now view Britain as a nation of bigots.” – Kate Farr

“Devastated. Feels like a bad dream!” – Thom Andrews
