The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) has announced the launch of its second art walk, On the Plain of Plenty, following the resounding success of the inaugural Arts in the City: Small Valley TAI HANG event.

Curated by Stephanie Cheung, Chan Tsz-lam, and Zoe Hong, this immersive art experience aims to captivate both the general public and visitors of Hong Kong, offering a unique exploration of Yuen Long’s cultural heritage through art and gastronomy.

From 9 to 31 March 2024, participants will have the opportunity to embark on a journey through Yuen Long, a historically rich area known as “On the Plain of Plenty.” Famed for its alluvial basin and fertile land, this region boasts a diverse culinary scene and a bountiful harvest of crops. As the town grew, affordable and delightful eateries flourished along the main road, making it a true haven for food enthusiasts.

The On the Plain of Plenty art walk aims to encapsulate the essence of Yuen Long and Hong Kong through an artistic lens. Curator Stephanie Cheung emphasizes the importance of savoring the flavors and traditions here, which reflect the profound connection between the people and the land. The event seeks to showcase the cultural charm of the rural area and offer participants a fresh perspective through site-specific artistic creations.

The art walk highlights six main courses, each crafted by talented artists who bring their unique artistic expressions to the table. From ceramic art to media arts, participants will engage their senses and savor the essence of these evocative creations. Noteworthy pieces include “In The Pond Of Indifference” by Tai Sang Wai X Tim Chan and “Wander” by A Few Moments・Youth Hub X Tang Kwok-Hin. These thought-provoking installations promise to leave a lasting impression on attendees.
