Regional executive director, KKday
Hongkonger Rebecca Leung started working young — she co-founded Tie In, a marketing agency, while still at university. With a few years of entrepreneurial experience under her belt, she decided to take her business sense to the next level by joining an overseas startup.
The startup is KKday, a Taiwan-headquartered travel experience e-commerce platform that offers wanderlusters experiences on their trips. Leung became its first overseas staff, and was tasked with bringing the company to Hong Kong.
“I love startups, technology, new business and travel,” she explains. “The process of building something from zero to one, and scaling it up from one to 100 are very exciting — it motivates me to move and learn fast.”
After launching in Hong Kong, she went on to bring KKday to six other markets in Southeast Asia. Today, she is responsible for leading the teams across those markets, looking after strategic planning, recruitment, performance monitoring and operations.
She is also a volunteer speaker, sharing her business successes and personal story with NGOs, schools and the like, and is involved in youth mentoring programs.
Leung remains inspired every day in her job. “I still feel touched when I read reviews from customers,” she says. “KKday is not only selling a travel product, but also an experience that can make travelers’ journeys better and happier.”
Her first job? Internship at a PR firm.
Her role model? Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.
