Co-founder and producer, Path of Victors
Entrepreneur John Ip is behind Path of Victors, a Hong Kong business reality show featuring startup entrepreneurs pitching to angel investors in an exciting format never previously seen in the city.
Ip, who co-founded Path of Victors with Nick Chan and Sophia Chan, played an instrumental part in production. He was responsible for raising funds for the show, recruiting a film crew and creating its website. The show’s first season debuted on Cable TV’s Finance Info Channel and Open TV, and was broadcast from October to December 2018.
The show was inspired by his own journey — while he was a student at Oxford Brookes University in the UK, he built a marketing website for a food and beverage business which was later acquired, and also worked in sales at a big data company in Shanghai.
“Technologically, Hong Kong is lagging behind on the international playing field,” Ip says of his experiences of creating the show.
“Entrepreneurial minds are good for the future of Hong Kong — therefore I hope Path of Victors could inspire Hong Kong viewers and our next generations to chase their entrepreneurial dreams.”
Ip is now working on Path of Victors’ season two, with plans to air in 2019.
His first job? Bartending while studying at university.
What inspires him? “Opportunity, pain and adversity.”
