Co-founder and CEO, SharedSpace

Clare Lim is very honest about the hardships she went through as a teen. During her final years in high school in Hong Kong, she began struggling with chronic fatigue and depression. “At the time my teachers were not well-informed enough about mental health, and how to support struggling teens,” she remembers.

At 18 years old, injuries prevented her from continuing dance classes at the Boston Conservatory. Having been practising yoga and dance since her early teens, she began teaching classes in yoga, pilates, CrossFit and “movement,” a lifestyle that became a central concept in SharedSpace.

“My eventual building of SharedSpace as a platform came from the creative space of wanting to make a professional ‘movement’ lifestyle – the one I was living – sustainable and scalable,” she explains.

Co-founded by Lim with her partner Aaron Martin, SharedSpace offers yoga, dance, parkour and strength training with a focus on meditation and movement. It is no ordinary studio — there are also workshops, performances and opportunities to collaborate with others.

“My mission is to inspire others to move their bodies [and] explore movement for health and joy,” she says.

Her first job? Lim appeared on a magazine cover as a baby.

Her role model? Nevine Michaan, founder of Katonah Yoga; authors and motivational speakers Seth Godin, Gary Vee and Simon Sinek.
