Where to? Queenstown, New Zealand
Why you’ll love it: Ride the adrenaline at Queenstown’s Kawarau Bridge Bungy, considered the birthplace of modern bungy jumping. At only about 43 meters tall (141 feet), it might be a little light for veteran thrill-seekers, but nothing compares with the rush of leaping off the historic suspension bridge.
The spot dates back to the 1880s, way before you could Snapchat or Instagram your plunge towards the turquoise waters below. It draws jumpers from all over the world, looking for the ‘original’ experience. Of course, if the thought of jumping into the gaping Kawarau Gorge is too much for you, you can always let your friends go ahead while you sip on drinks from the safety of the viewing platform instead.
Fun fact: Kawarau is the only Queenstown bungy that offers tandem jumps, so you don’t have to go it alone. There’s also a Kawarau Zipride for those after a slightly less intense joyride.
Get there: Air New Zealand flies from Hong Kong to Queenstown with a stop in Auckland.
