Where to? Polignano a Mare, Italy

Why you’ll love it: A restaurant carved into a limestone cliff, 74 feet above the sea? Count us in. Located in a medieval town and only open in summer, Grotta Palazzese serves up decadent meals — like Thai squid and grilled garlic prawns with Fiano di Avellino wine – with sweeping views of the Adriatic Sea.

It’s certainly one of the most romantic restaurants we’ve ever set foot in, so be sure to make a reservation far, far in advance.

Fun fact: Built centuries ago, Grotta Palazzese was the setting of grand banquets for the local nobility during as far back as the 1700s.

Get there: Fly to Bari, Italy. You take several routes, including via Munich with Lufthansa, Cathay via Rome, Turkish Airlines via Istanbul. Once you get to Bari, it’s a 20-minute train ride to Polignano a Mare.
