Do we hate the rush that we get on the red minibus, or do we hate that we love it? Here are 11 uniquely HK experiences that all Hongkongers can relate to.

1. Visiting 7-Eleven for anything and everything.

Need cash? A hot meal? To pay our bills? 7-Eleven has got us covered.

2. Partying it up in LKF (and getting McDelivery at 3am), despite everything.

We dislike the idea when we’re sober, but we inadvertently find ourselves back at the original party central time and time again.

3. Gambling our lives on a red minibus.

We wonder why those beeping speedometers on the red minibuses even exist, but we’re thankful that we can go anywhere in record time.

4. Battling rush hour at Admiralty station.

It’s a true victory when we manage to snag a seat or avoid body contact.

5. Tramming it, just because.

It’s extremely slow and cliché, but also extremely therapeutic — not to mention cheap.

6. Trying out street food, Hong Kong-style.

Stewed cow innards. Stinky tofu. Deep-fried pig intestines. The list goes on.

7. Obsessing over buffets / desserts / afternoon tea.

8. Going to a family dim sum lunch every weekend.

Because we all know brunch is for suckers only.

9. Having junk parties as soon as there’s double-digit weather.

Where else can we get extremely drunk and tanned, at the same time?

10. Discovering a different side to the city, via hiking trails.

First we start with Dragon’s Back, then we find ourselves at the Tung Chung Rescue Trail wanting more.

11. Realizing that the city has its flaws, but we’re proud to call it home.
